Pauladene  Edwards (Somerset)
Mrs. Pauladene Somerset Edwards of Troy passed away Thursday, June 20, 20l3 at her residence surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was 80. Funeral services for Mrs. Pauladene Somerset Edwards will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 20l3 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. David Stewart pastor at Murphy Chapel United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held from 5p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, June 24, 20l3 at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service. She was born December 13, 1932 in Pike County, AL. daughter of the late Vernon Elizabeth Enzor Somerset and Arnold Rollo Somerset of Pike County. She married Edsel Sterling Edwards of Pike County on November 19, 1948 and was a long time resident of Gardner Bassett Road in Pike County. Pauladene worked many years for the Pike County Health Department, Home Health Care Services and the Troy City School System where she served as lunchroom manager. She was an avid genealogist and a member of the Pike County Historical Society where she served as secretary for several terms. She served on the Union Hill Cemetery Committee most of her adult life and was a member of Murphy Chapel United Methodist Church. Her work and community involvement touched many lives and she shall be remembered and missed by family members and friends. Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband of 64 years; Edsel Edwards, Troy; daughter and son-in-law: Judith E. and Thomas M. Price, Williamsburg, VA; son and daughter-in-law: Charles S. and Donna N. Edwards, Gardner Bassett Road, Pike County; grandsons: James Arnold Price and Matthew Davis Phillips, granddaughter: Amber Rae Wilkerson, and three great granddaughters; Lauren I. Price, Hailey B. Phillips and Shelby M. Phillips. Serving as pallbearers will be Timothy Taylor, Jessie Taylor, Jimmy Simmons, Glenn Smith, Jay Edwards, Jeffery Berry, Donny Berry, Max Barron and Tommy Peacock. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, cards, letters, well wishes and visits during Pauladene’s illness. Memorials may be made to the Union Hill Cemetery Fund, c/o Shirley Barron or the American Cancer Society.
