Walter Dudley "Dud" Linn, Jr., 60, of Abbeville, AL passed away peacefully on Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Abbeville, AL after a courageous fight with ALS-Lou Gehrig's disease. Dud was born January 24, 1954 in Dothan, AL the son of the late Walter Dudley Linn and Robbie Mills Linn. In Dudley’s younger years he lived in Navarre, Florida where he became a talented and knowledgeable fisherman, self-taught cook and home building craftsman. He often talked about the years he lived near the ocean and always yearned for more time fishing on the water in his custom restored Boston Whaler. Nothing pleased Dudley more than to share his fishing catch prepared to perfection with his friends and family. His home building techniques were admired by all and his completed jobs were cherished by those who were fortunate enough to acquire them. Dudley was a collector of friends as evidenced by the outpouring of love and support during this time of need. He, also, took great pride in being one of the grandsons who are decended from two wonderful Henry County families, the E.H. and Mamie Linn Family and the Lindsay and Annie Mills Family. He leaves a legacy of love survived by his daughter, Britney Jill Strousky (Tay) and a grandson, Cameron Lamar Brown, a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Lee Matthews all of Panama City, FL. He is, also, survived by a special group of friends and caretakers to whom the family will be forever grateful, Mike and BB Saunders, Fred Arnold, Edward Lovett, Jack Reynolds, Terry Roland, David Doswell and Joey Doswell. The staff at the Henry County Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Facility not only provided the best of care and love everyday but became some of his dearest friends. Thank you to the staff of Gentiva Hospice for their care during this time. A memorial service with family and friends will be held at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center in Abbeville, Alabama at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 with Jack Reynolds giving the eulogy.
