Mr. John Edge "Johnny" Mitchell of Troy passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Central Alabama Health Care VA Hospital in Tuskegee, AL. He was 85. Memorial services will be held 3:00 pm Friday, October 2, 2015 at Park Memorial Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Arnold officiating. He was born August 29, 1930 in Pike County, AL to the late Thomas Mitchell and Leila Railey Mitchell. He proudly served our country in the US Army where he served in the Korean War. His sense of humor was an inspiration and he always had a big smile. He will be greatly missed by his daughter. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Mary Carr Mitchell and a nephew Keith Mitchell. He is survived by his child, Jonah Larita Mitchell, Troy; grandson, Steadman Lee Peed of Gulf Shores, AL; granddaughter, Mrs. Hunter Callaway Lolley and her husband, Rick, of Camden, AL; grandson, Cortland Edge Peed of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; great grandchildren, Jackson Wake Lolley and Vivian LeeLee Lolley both of Camden, AL; one brother, James Wiley Mitchell and his wife, Ina Kate; 3 nephews, Keith Mitchell, Kim DeAnna Mitchell, and Gavin Mitchell; special friends, William D. Fish and Megan White, and many relatives and close friends.
