Mrs. Martha M. Griffin of Brundidge passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Troy Health and Rehab in Troy. She was 101. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Pine Hill Cemetery in Jemison, AL Burial will follow with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Salem Baptist Church in Brundidge. Mrs. Griffin was born in Blount County, AL. January 19, 1916 to the late Rev. Robert Edward and Mary Elizabeth Jones Massey. Martha graduated from Alabama College in Montevallo and taught home economics and science for 32 years. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Lanier Griffin, a son, John Sidney Griffin and 4 brothers. She is survived by her daughters, Molly Casey, Brundidge; Anne Searcy, Montgomery; a granddaughter, Griffin Austin, a great grandson, Jackson Austin and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to one's favorite charity.
