Raymond M. Nelson of Montgomery, formally of Troy, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery. He was 58. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 8. 2017 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Rev. Loyd Hodge officiating. Eulogy will be given by his son, Shawn Nelson. Burial will follow in Antioch Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffee County with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. He was born January 8, 1959 in Pike County, AL to Archie Nelson and Mildred Harrelson Nelson. He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Nelson, a brother, Nathan "Mud Dog" Nelson, his grandparents, Grover and Leola Harrelson and Holley and Eunie Mae Nelson and an uncle, Malcom Harrelson. He is survived by his son, Raymond Shawn Nelson, Montgomery; daughters, Misty Hope Nelson (Clay Sanders), Jack; and Lindsey Nelson Jones,(John Michael) Luverne; mother, Mildred Nelson, Troy; 3 grandchildren, Morgan Leigh Green, Glenwood; Raymond Montiel, Troy; and Mari Michael Jones, Luverne; nieces,Jennifer Nelson, Troy; Heather Reeves Nelson Ocala, FL; and Kimberly Nelson, Jack; uncles, Billy Ray Harrelson, Pace, FL; and Tommy Harrelson, Montgomery; and an aunt, Polly Robertson, Jack. Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Vance, Tim Wambles, Jody Atwell, Fred Sutley, Eddie Paramore, Dennis James. and Rodney Powell.
