Obituary for George C. Griffin

Mr. George C. Griffin of Troy passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Troy Regional Medical Center in Troy. He was 79. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with Eulogy by Freddie Turner. Burial will follow in Griffin Cemetery with full Military Honors, Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. The family will also receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. until service time. Mr. Griffin was born September 15, 1939 in Pike County, AL to the late Norton E. Griffin and Betty J. Rotenberry Griffin. He served in the U.S. Army and was retired as an engineer for the State of AL Road Department. He was loved by everyone and a willing helper to all. He loved wood working, working on his boat, fishing, racing, ballgames, westerns and he was a real comedian. He also loved taking care of his chickens and Fred and Little Fred. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Allen and a niece, Dianne Arnett. He is survived by his son, Sam Griffin, Troy; daughters, Dana Jones (Steve), Sylacauga, AL and Mae Senn, Troy; grandchildren, Cortney Norris (Joe), Banks, Trent Jones, Sylacauga, Cory Senn (Amira), Troy and Diana Senn (Frank), Rutledge, AL; great grandchildren, Lucas Norris, Banks, Al, Dalton Senn, Dyllan Cole and Gunner Cole all of Rutledge; brothers, William "Butch" Griffin (Cooki Sleight), Troy and Lester "Buster" Griffin, Troy and several nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Ashley Lewis, Ashton Lewis Wiley Brantley, Mason Griffin, Kyle Lewis, Frank Cole, Joseph Norris, Cory Senn and Gerald Sharpe.
