Obituary for Josie Naomi Phillips

Mrs. Naomi Phillips passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Brookwood Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham. She was 73. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy with the Eulogy given by Daniel Earles. Burial will follow in Ramah Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Phillips was born July 7, 1944 to the late Ed Lamar Culpepper and Helen Ruth Atkins Culpepper. For 25 years she was a devoted Avon Sales Manager that allowed her the opportunity to see the world and make so many friends. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren in her garden and also cooking. She was treasured by many. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Eddie Culpepper and Wayne Culpepper and a sister-in-law, Lela Skiver. She is survived by her husband, Brady Phillips, Banks, AL; daughters, Jennifer Earles (Daniel), Troy, Candace Penn (Lance), Troy; Renee Griggs and her fiance, Michael Williams, Montgomery; 4 grandchildren, Amber Griggs, Dalton Earles and fiancé Cheyenne Calhoun, Justice Earles and Thomas Penn; 2 great grandchildren, Jeremy Griggs and Maddox Granata; brother-in-law, Eddie Lee Phillips (Cindy), FL and a sister-in-law, Linda Haire (Joe), TN. Serving as pallbearers will be Lance Penn, Jonathan Earles, Eddie Lee Phillips, Michael Williams, Laylon Gardner and Eddie Culpepper.
