Obituary for Kathleen "Kathy" Wilson

Kathleen “Kathy” Wilson, formerly of Brundidge, died in Panama City, Florida on Monday, February 5, 2018. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 4:00 p. m. from Bush Baptist Church; 605 South George Wallace Drive; Troy, AL with Rev. Cliff Allred officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p. m. until 4:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with Skeen Funeral Home directing. Kathy was born on March 27, 1956 in Troy to the late Mack Sollie Wilson and Laurie Jean Culpepper Wilson. She received both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1979 and a Master of Science Degree in Education in 1980 from Troy State University, now Troy University. In 1981 she began her career as an instructor at Troy State University and retired as Professor Emeritus of Biological and Environmental Sciences. She was also a member in good standing of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education. Kathy was a beach girl at heart, lived her life to the fullest and always saw the good in people. God rest her soul. She also loved her four legged kids, Jazz, Panda and Ebony. She is survived by her husband John Franklin Patterson; her sister Rebecca Ann Wilson Connell; her niece Melanie Janine Connell Wilson, husband Brian Patrick Wilson, and sons Patrick Connell Wilson and Fintan Michael Wilson; her nephew Tommy Frank “Tom” Connell, Jr., wife Melanie McLin Connell and daughter Katherine McLin “Katie Mac” Manning; and her special friend and cousin Angela “Ange” Wilson Trimble. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Carlos Cullen Culpepper, Sr. and Carrie Laurie Lawson Culpepper, her paternal grandparents Coley Hubert Wilson and Fannie Lou Connor Wilson, her brother-in-law Tommy Frank Connell, Sr. and her extended family member Sarah Margaret Shipman Caffie who she affectionately called “My Margaret”.
