Mrs. Gladys B. Spivey of Troy, AL passed away Tuesday, June 25 2019 at her residence. She was 99. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev Wayne Locklar officiating. Burial will follow at Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. The family will receive friends Saturday at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Spivey was born October 16, 1919 in Coffee County, AL to the late James Marion Brooks and Opie Agnes Kelley Brooks. She and her late husband, Horace Spivey, operated a grocery store in Troy for many years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son, Gene Spivey, brothers, Herman Edward Brooks, Damon Brooks, William Orin Brooks and Huey Brooks, and a sister, Emma Grace Gardner. She is survived by her son, Jerry Spivey (Sandra), Troy; grandchildren: Joseph Spivey, Jennifer Spivey, Tracey Snyder and Terri Adams; 11 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Paige Spivey, Troy; brother, Sherrill Brooks, Atlanta, GA; and a sister, Felicia Boutwell, Molena GA. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Adams, Drew Adams, Gage Adams, Robin Snyder, Braden Snyder and Jacob Spivey. Memorials may be made to ones favorite charity.
