Obituary for Annette Somerset (Thomley)

Annette Thomley Somerset, 86, passed away at home in Coffeyville, Kansas surrounded by family September 17, 2019. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Troy, AL, with The Reverend Father John Trough, CMRI, officiating. Burial will follow with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing.

She and her late husband, “Don” moved to Coffeyville, KS, from Dayton, TX, two years ago. She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Wittkop (Stephen), Wendy Haught (Herb) and Lisa Somerset, and grandchildren Caitlin Wittkop (Hunter), Nathaniel Haught, Emmaline Haught, Devin Somerset (Desiree), Kaley Palanjian, and Tucker Palanjian and two great-granddaughters, Melody Kent and Dani Haught, and by her twin sister, June Peters, nephew Scott Peters and niece Teresa (Peters) Hallford.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tillis Thomley and Myra Draughon Thomley, and one grandson, Stephen Corey Wittkop.

Anne grew up playing piano for her church in Wicksburg, AL, and even played for her own high school graduation. She attended Troy State Teachers College as a music major, where she played tenor sax in a dance band and met and married Don. After Don graduated from Auburn University in 1956, the couple moved to Ft. Walton Beach, FL, where they began their family, and Anne became a full-time homemaker. They called Ft. Walton Beach home for the next forty years.
