Obituary for Fred Hussey

Mr. Fred Hussey a resident of the Perdue Community passed away, Saturday, June 25, 2022, at his residence. He was 79. Funeral services for Mr. Hussey will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at Dorcas Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Morgan officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors in St. John Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. He was born March 9, 1943, in the Pocosins, an area of southeastern Pike County, to the late Suzan Brooks and James S. Hussey. Not long after receiving his high school diploma, he married Elizabeth Wilson in the winter of 1965 while working for Jenkins Brick Company and commuting to classes at the Aviation College. Mr. Fred had found his passion for serving his country and his community. He was a lifelong member of Dorcas Baptist Church and served a longtime in the Army. He worked installing flooring mainly carpet for many years. Mr. Fred Hussey will be missed by his country, his community, his friends, and most of all his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joe, Beulah and Minnie. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elva Elizabeth Hussey; two daughters, Samantha Hobart (Steven) and Layla Arnette (Ray); two sons, Wesley Hussey (Lisa) and Kendrick Hussey; nine grandchildren: Justin Hobart (Simone), Ashley Gilley (Chris), Ryan Hobart (Christa), Jeffery Hobart, Conley, Grace, Grady, Bo, and Wyatt; 13 great grandchildren, and his brothers, Frank Hussey (Betty), James Hussey, Ralph Hussey (Lee), David Hussey (Charlotte), Charles Hussey, and Carrol Hussey (Stephanie); sisters, Mandy Little and Agnes Denzil (Barron). Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Hobart, Ryan Hobart, Jeffery Hobart, Chris Gilley, Ray Arnette, and Raymond Kidd.
