Mrs. Eunice Melinda Strickland Plunkett a resident of Goshen, AL passed away, Saturday, September 17, 2022 at her residence. She was 79. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy with Rev. J.C. Turner and Rev. Tommy Manns officiating. Burial will follow in Universalist Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home directing. Visitation for Mrs. Plunkett will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2022, at Skeen Funeral Home. The family will also receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Mrs. Plunkett was born November 21, 1942 in Dale County to the late Major Strickland and Leola Sawyer Strickland. She was known as Mel and worked as a physical therapist at Troy Health and Rehab and Luverne Health and Rehab. She also coached a men’s softball travel team and was known as “Coach Mel”. She is survived by her sons, Darnell Plunkett (Sherri), Troy, and Thomas Wayne Plunkett, St. Clair County, AL; daughter, Angela Edwards (Alvin), Briar Hill, AL; six grandkids; five great grandkids. Serving as pallbearers will be members of Chaotic View M C and Carl Plunkett. The family would like to thank Enhabit Hospice of Troy for their kind love and assistance.
