The earthly journey for 92 year old Barnie Ree Leatherwood Flowers ended May 16, 2023 at the Montgomery Alabama home of her daughter Vivian Griffin. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 at Springfield Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Powell and Rev. Shane Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. The family will receive friends Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Robert Carlton Flower; parents, William Eldridge Leatherwood and Bessie Pearl Chapman; sons Carl and Milton Curtis Flowers; brother, James Leatherwood; and grandson Steven Lee Griffin. She is survived by her daughter Vivian Griffin (John); daughter-in-law Sandra Flowers; grandchildren Tyler Flowers (Cheyenne) and Whitney Flowers (TJ); great grandchildren Lynleigh and Ansleigh Griffin, Mickenzie Flowers, and Carson Horton and Hayden Flowers; brother Orron Leatherwood (Phyllis); sisters-in-law Nita Leatherwood, Lonice McClendon, Betty Shiver; brother-in-law Leon Flowers (Mary Virgina); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Barnie Ree was a typical homemaker of her generation with many talents and skills. She was family oriented and involved with her church and community.
