Mr. William Ammons, age 82, of Jack, AL. died Friday, September 11, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services for William Ammons will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 2009 at Victoria Baptist Church with Brother Donnie Marler officiating. Mr. Ammons will lie in state from 2-3 p.m. at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Victoria Baptist Church Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitaton for William Ammons will be held from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. Mr. Ammons was born in Coffee County September 3, 1927, son of the late Willie Daniel and Bessie P. Kelley Ammons. He was employed with Bonnie Plant farms as an route supervisor. Mr. Ammons was aWorld War II veteran while serving in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Ammons and a brother, William Robert Ammons. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Ben and Dena Ammons, Troy, AL; a brother and sister-in-law: James Rodney and Erma Ammons, Jack, AL; 2 sisters and brother-in-law: Betty Myrl Boutwell, Elba, AL; Velma and Howard Lee, Jack, AL; 3 grandsons: William Ben Ammons and Benjamin Eric Ammons, both of Atlanta, GA; Nichlos Ben Ammons, Dothan, AL; 2 granddaughters: Leigh Ann Ammons, Midland City, AL; Mary McKenzie Mills, Troy, AL. 2 great grandchildren: Benjamin Ammons and Joslyn Ammons both of Atlanta, GA. Pallbearers will be Joel Barber, Damon Reed, Nick Ammons, Malcome Daniels, Pete Whitehead and Van Maddox.
