The gates of Heaven opened wide once more, as Kenneth Thomas went to be with his Lord on March 14, 2019. He spent his final days toiling away in what he so lovingly and proudly referred to as God’s Country (Goshen, AL). He felt God’s presence in every blade of grass and in every fallen limb. Before that, he raised his family in Montgomery, AL, working for the State of Alabama as a Radiation Safety Specialist before retiring and working for the State of Florida in the same capacity, making sure that others’ health was protected. Vicki Thomas, his devoted wife of 41 years, was at his side up until the very end, holding his hand until that final breath. Kenneth passed in his home, at peace. He lamented those final days in remembrance of his deceased parents, Herbert Carroll Thomas and Bertha Broadway Thomas. Held in deep regard were his deceased grandparents, Alexander and Mila Eunice Thomas, and Leon and Clara Broadway, whom Kenneth thought of often. Kenneth was blessed by his children: son, Christopher Thomas, along with his wife Eleanor Thomas, and daughter, Sara Thomas. In return, he greatly blessed his grandchildren, Chloe and Evan Thomas, given to Christopher and Eleanor. Kenneth spoke to them of God’s lessons until the very end. His faithful sister, Dana Everage, along with her husband Tommy Everage, also need your prayers. All of these, along with the countless other family members that Kenneth touched and loved so deeply, ask that you remember his legacy and celebrate his life. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Skeen Funeral Home Chapel in Troy, AL, with Dr. Robert Carter officiating, Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider giving to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. They can be reached by mail, 3500 Blue Lake Drive, Suite 225, Birmingham, AL, 35243, or by phone, (205) 989-0098. Kenneth Thomas truly believed that God blessed us so that we might bless others. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this time of grief. Let us not grieve forever, but rejoice in what God has given.
